Harty’s Oysters
Harty's Oysters
The Harty family’s prime dairy land adjoins Dungarvan Bay. The family has lived and worked here for over six generations since 1835, farming the land in a sustainable way. This has helped to ensure a beautifully pristine and healthy bay. Harty oysters score highly in their salinity, sweetness and texture, both meaty and tender, the team take pride in serving local seafood and have won the BIM Innovation Award for the development of their site nursery.
Sustainability is important to the Harty family as they have a wind turbine to generate 50% of our electricity and they recycle any oyster shells that cannot be used as a liming agent on the dairy farm. The overall health of their bio-diverse ecosystem has been the family’s raison d’etre for generations. Sustainable oyster farming was a core family belief and a natural progression on their voyage to create the perfect Irish ‘speciale’ oyster.
